I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been providing counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals and families for over 25 years. I specialize in treating cognitive impairments, mood disorders, behavioral difficulties and grief/loss issues.

I provide my clients with psychoeducation, stress management techniques, transitional skill development, and emotional/behavioral therapy to help them deal with the various changes and challenges that have been presented to them. I work collaboratively with other professionals who are involved with my clients and advocate for them as needed in order to provide the best comprehensive care that they deserve.

Amanda Berbaum Aussem, LCSW

Amanda graduated in 2000 with her Masters in Social Work specializing in mental health. For the past fourteen years, I worked in the emergency room with patients of all ages who are in crisis. This involved extensive individual and family contact.  I have also provided clinical supervision to graduate students in their master's program.

I enjoy giving back to the next-generation by being a mentor. My goal is to get to know people, and have a little fun along the way. When not working, I love traveling around the world. My favorite place is Africa, where I've been on five photography Safaris!

I'm a Licensed Clinical Forensic Neuropsychologist who graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where I trained with an emphasis in forensic and neuropsychology. I am board certified in biofeedback and neurofeedback, certified in Animal Assisted Therapy, and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Even though I love learning, I also love creating the thirst for knowledge in other people. To that extent, I teach at The Chicago School in their Online Forensic Masters Degree program.

I have also created an accredited 36 hour didactic course for the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) that fulfills the didactic requirement for BCIA certification and has been approved to provide 36 hours of continuing education credits from the American Psychological Association!!!

I am also working towards a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology at The Chicago School in order to expand my knowledge of how medication interacts with the brain as the brain waves stabilize, and with the hopes of becoming a Prescribing Medical Psychologist in the state of Illinois.

I have extensive experience in neuroscience, and with the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, organic brain disorders, and non-organic brain disorders.

Using an integrative approach by combining neurotherapy along with traditional counseling, I create a unique treatment experience for my patients.
